Minimum Requirements

• Matric
• Qualified Diesel Mechanic (essential)
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience
• Supervisory experience (advantageous)
• Computer literacy (MS Teams)
• Experience with European vehicles (MAN, Mercedes-Benz)
• Experience with trailer equipment (BPW, Jost, Thermo King, Tail lifts)

Knowledge & Skills

• Fleet maintenance and workshop operations
• Preventative maintenance planning
• Team supervision and coordination
• Mechanical fault diagnosis and repair
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Problem-solving and independent work

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Operations

• Manage fleet service and maintenance programmes
• Plan preventative maintenance schedules
• Coordinate repairs and breakdowns
• Provide solutions to mechanical failures

Team Management

• Supervise and motivate maintenance team
• Allocate work to contractors
• Support on-road breakdown assistance

Workshop & Fleet Control

• Manage workshop administration and stock
• Monitor fuel levels
• Analyse driver reports

Coordination & Scheduling

• Schedule maintenance interventions
• Handle workshop queries
• Ensure timely repairs and servicing

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain a safe working environment
• Attend safety meetings
• Investigate incidents

General Duties

• Perform ad-hoc tasks as required
• Work flexible hours, shifts, weekends, and public holidays
