Overview
The Allan Gray Fellowship Programme is designed for high-achieving Grade 12 learners who are about to enter university and want to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.
Fellows receive:
- Needs-based university funding
- Personal and professional development
- Support focused on building an entrepreneurial mindset
Fields of Study Supported
Applicants must intend to study one of the following:
- Commerce
- Science
- Engineering
- Law
- Humanities
- Arts
- Health Sciences (excluding Medicine, Veterinary Science, and Dentistry)
At one of these institutions:
- University of Cape Town (UCT)
- University of the Witwatersrand (Wits)
- University of Johannesburg (UJ)
- Stellenbosch University (SU)
- University of Pretoria (UP)
- University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN)
- University of the Free State (UFS)
- University of the Western Cape (UWC)
- Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
- Rhodes University (RU)
- TSiBA Education
Minimum Requirements
- At least 60% in Pure Mathematics OR 80% in Mathematical Literacy (Grade 11 results)
- Minimum 70% overall average (excluding Life Orientation)
- Currently in Grade 12
- Must be under 21 years old in the year of application
- Must be a South African citizen
Selection Process
- Submit your application with all required documents
- Shortlisted candidates attend interviews (July 2026)
- Successful candidates attend a selection camp (September 2026)
