The European Space Agency (ESA) is inviting applications for its African Research Fellowships (ARF) 2026, aimed at developing the next generation of African Earth observation scientists.
This is a fully funded international research opportunity for African graduates to work in Europe while contributing to solving real challenges across the continent.

What You’ll Do
- Conduct advanced research using satellite Earth observation data.
- Work with AI, cloud computing, and large environmental datasets.
- Collaborate with ESA scientists and international experts.
- Develop solutions to Africa’s environmental and sustainability challenges.
Research Focus Areas
Applicants must propose a 1-year research project aligned with EO AFRICA priorities, such as:
- Climate and environmental monitoring
- Biodiversity and conservation
- Agriculture and land use
- Water resource management
- Disaster risk reduction
