Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) – 2026 Bursary Applications

The Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) of Namibia is inviting applications for its 2026 External Bursary The Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia is offering bursaries for the 2026 academic year to support studies that contribute to environmental sustainability and national development. The programme targets young Namibians committed to pursuing careers in areas aligned with climate action, renewable energy, agriculture, environmental management, and related disciplines.


1. Programme Purpose

The EIF External Bursary Programme aims to:

  • Build national expertise in sustainability and environmental fields
  • Strengthen Namibia’s capacity to address climate and socio-economic challenges
  • Support youth development, especially from marginalised communities
  • Fund relevant undergraduate and postgraduate education at accredited institutions

2. Eligible Applicants

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Namibian citizenship
  • Age between 18 and 35
  • Grade 12 Certificate or provisional results
  • Academic progress report if already enrolled in a tertiary institution
  • Proof of application or provisional acceptance at an NQA-accredited institution
  • Submission of all certified documents as required

Applicants from marginalised communities and persons with disabilities will receive preference.


3. Fields of Study

Undergraduate Bursaries

Funding is available for qualifications in:

  • Agriculture
  • Renewable Energy
  • Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation
  • Environmental Management
  • Sustainable Development
  • Climate Financing
  • Low-Carbon Technologies and related programmes

Postgraduate Bursaries

Support is offered for postgraduate studies in:

  • Master of Science in Agriculture
  • Master in Renewable Energy
  • Master in Agricultural Engineering
  • Master in Sustainable Energy Systems
  • Master in Green Climate Financing
  • Master in Natural Science Management
  • Master in GIS (Geographical Information Systems)
  • Master in Environmental Law

Applications outside these approved fields will not be evaluated.


4. Application Form

All applicants must complete the official EIF bursary application form.

5. Documents Required

Applications must include the following certified documents:

  • Namibian Identity Document
  • Grade 12 Certificate or provisional results
  • Academic progress report (for current tertiary students)
  • Proof of application or provisional acceptance at an accredited institution
  • Proof of permanent residential address
  • Completed EIF bursary application form

Any missing or uncertified documents will result in automatic disqualification.


6. Submission Guidelines

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.


7. Key Conditions

  • Only Namibian citizens aged 18–35 are eligible
  • Only approved fields of study will be funded
  • All documents must be certified
  • Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted

Application Closing Date: 30 November 2026

Applications submitted after this date will not be considered.
