Programme Overview
ArcelorMittal South Africa, the largest steel producer on the African continent, offers a Production Learnership designed to train individuals as process operators. This programme combines structured institutional and on-the-job training, providing learners with comprehensive knowledge of the steel manufacturing process.
The learnership supports career development while emphasizing safety, zero harm, and professional growth. Candidates will gain hands-on experience in a leading industrial environment as part of the ArcelorMittal Group, a global steel leader present in 27 countries.
Learnership Structure
- Training Approach: Outcome-based, combining classroom learning and practical on-the-job training
- Assessment: Regular assessments and progress monitoring
- Support Provided: Training costs, personal protective equipment (PPE), institutional training fees, personal insurance, and a bursary allowance
- Employment: Permanent employment is not guaranteed upon completion
Eligibility & Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be South African youth (preference for under 35 years old)
- Have a complete Grade 12 certificate with the following minimum requirements:
- English: 45%
- Mathematics: 40% or Mathematics Literacy: 50%

- Successful candidates will undergo a medical examination
