Overview

Tharisa is offering bursaries for the 2026 academic year to support students in key mining-related disciplines. The bursary covers full study costs and includes practical exposure through vacation work. Successful candidates will also be required to complete a one-year graduate internship with the company after graduation.

What the Bursary Covers

  • Full tuition fees
  • Accommodation
  • Prescribed textbooks
  • Monthly allowance (from the first semester of 2026)

Additional Requirements:

  • Participation in vacation work at the mine at the end of each academic year
  • Completion of a minimum one-year graduate internship with the company after graduation

Minimum Requirements

For current students:

  • Matric certificate with at least 60% in Mathematics and Physical Science
  • Proof of registration in one of the listed disciplines
  • Full academic record from tertiary institution

Important Notes

  • Only South African citizens may apply.
  • Preference will be given to applicants from local communities or labour-sending areas.
  • Applicants currently receiving another bursary or sponsorship will not be considered.
  • Final selection will consider Matric results (minimum 60% in Mathematics and Physical Science) and proof of registration or acceptance.
  • In line with Employment Equity requirements, preference will be given to designated groups.
