Purpose of the Role
The Excavator Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently loading haul trucks to the correct capacity. The role ensures cost-effective production while maintaining a clean loading area to prevent truck tyre damage, using a dozer or wheel dozer when necessary.
Reporting Line
Reports to the Production Supervisor / Load & Haul Foreman.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve required truck factor and daily production targets
- Execute the approved daily production plan
- Load trucks to the correct elevation using the grade box
- Ensure continuous feeding of reef to crushers and waste to the TSF
- Scale the highwall safely
- Avoid loading oversized rocks onto trucks
- Do not load un-blasted hard surfaces
- Report and address any equipment damages immediately
- Maintain a clean and safe loading area
- Support Load & Haul Supervisors in executing tasks safely and cost-effectively
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with employees and management
Minimum Requirements
- At least 1 year experience as an Excavator Operator
- Open-cast mining experience (advantageous)
- Code 10 driver’s license (for multi-skilling purposes)
- Must pass medical and Dover assessments
Inherent Requirement
- Must be medically fit
