The SAPREF Bursary Programme is an opportunity for academically strong South African students pursuing high-demand qualifications aligned to SAPREF’s current and future operational needs.
The bursary supports students enrolled at mainstream public universities and is aimed at developing scarce and critical skills within the engineering, business, and science sectors.

Engineering Degrees
- BSc Engineering (Electrical / Instrumentation)
- BSc Engineering (Mechanical)
- BSc Engineering (Chemical)
Business & Management Degrees
- BCom Finance
- BCom Logistics
- BCom Supply Chain Management
- BCom Human Resource Management
Science
- BSc Environmental Science
Applicants studying qualifications not listed above are not eligible for this bursary.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be accepted or registered at a public university in South Africa
- Be entering 1st or 2nd year of study in 2026
- Have excellent academic results
- Be studying towards a qualification aligned with SAPREF’s operational needs
